Not Silent
I've been quiet lately, but it's not because I've gone silent.
Quite the opposite. I've been working closely with the women in Fearless Femmes as we cover our Week 3 topic--stress. In particular, the stress many of us experience as the bearer of intersecting sources of systemic oppression. The timing feels supernatural, and it's one of few solaces right now.
I also have been attending racial justice protests around NYC. It has been very energizing, and I recommend going if you haven't yet.
I've personally donated to the following orgs and encourage you to do the same:
Amy McGrath's campaign to defeat Mitch McConnell in the senate race
If you look at my job through one of the simplest lenses, it's convincing people that what they're trying to accomplish is actually easy. 100% of our goals are simply a series of logistical steps away.
This is one of those moments.
So, I'm here to tell you: just show up. Just donate. $10, $100, $1000. Those are nice, round numbers--pick one.
This action will lead to the next one, and the next and the next and the next. Easy.
The headlights may only illuminate the 20 feet in front of us, but it turns out you can make the whole journey that way.
We just have to keep lighting the way.
