“You bear god within you, poor wretch, and know it not.”
- Epictetus
People who follow the Yogic traditions tend to believe that the divine exists within every human, animal, and object. That apple, that dog, that beach chair, you, your mom…
But the human experience is special and unique, because only with a human mind can we have the experience of REALIZING we carry the divine within us—that we are an expression of God, some might say.
The way I see it, personally? Every other thing on earth already knows that it is God.
We’re the only ones experiencing the WILD-ASS DISCOVERY of this fact.
Take a moment to notice this sense of awe within yourself, unfolding every moment. Oh my god, I’M GOD!
I am a beautiful tendril, unfurling from Source/the Divine/Yahweh/Gaia!
Then, look around and notice the glorious wisdom, the assuredness, the nearly gluttonous confidence of that flower, that cloud, that basket.
They all know exactly who they are.
And as humans, our entire purpose for existing is to spend our life in the process of finding out—then trying, and failing, to remember.
Let that stir something in you today.
Love,
Becca
